Genau darum geht es im aktuellen Oktober-Newsletter der Open Home Foundation (Home Assistant). Und einige der vorgestellten Entwicklungen finde ich wirklich spannend!<\/p>\n<h2>Alexa und Google Home \u2013 funktionieren (jetzt) auch ohne die Hersteller-Cloud<\/h2>\n<p>Besonders interessant sind verschiedene Community-Projekte, mit denen sich \u00e4ltere Sprachassistenten von Amazon und Google unabh\u00e4ngig von ihren urspr\u00fcnglichen Herstellern betreiben lassen.&nbsp;Ein Beispiel ist ein Crowdfunding-Projekt, das den Google Home Mini der ersten Generation mit einer neuen Platine ausstattet. Urspr\u00fcnglich sollten daf\u00fcr 8.000 US-Dollar eingesammelt werden. Inzwischen sind es \u00fcber 132.000 US-Dollar geworden! Das zeigt ziemlich deutlich, wie gro\u00df das Interesse an einer unabh\u00e4ngigen Sprachsteuerung ist.<\/p>\n<p>Auch f\u00fcr Amazons Echo-Ger\u00e4te gibt es spannende Ans\u00e4tze:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LocalDot:<\/strong> Eine offene Hauptplatine f\u00fcr den Echo Dot der dritten Generation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EchoMuse:<\/strong> Verwandelt einen Echo Dot der zweiten Generation in einen lokalen Sprachassistenten und Musikplayer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TECHO5:<\/strong> Macht aus einem Echo Show einen lokalen Home-Assistant-Sprachassistenten \u2013 inklusive Touchscreen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>overdub:<\/strong> Erm\u00f6glicht die Nutzung der Aktionstaste eines Echo Dot mit Home Assistant, ohne Alexa vollst\u00e4ndig ersetzen zu m\u00fcssen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ich finde diesen Ansatz klasse (und auch nachhaltig)! Warum funktionierende Hardware entsorgen, wenn sie sich mit etwas Bastelarbeit weiterhin sinnvoll einsetzen l\u00e4sst? Nat\u00fcrlich sind solche Community-Projekte nicht unbedingt etwas f\u00fcr jeden Anwender, aber sie zeigen, was mit offener Hardware und Software m\u00f6glich ist.<\/p>\n<h2>Shelly und Zooz: Was passiert nach der \u00dcbernahme?<\/h2>\n<p>Auch bei den Smart-Home-Herstellern tut sich einiges. Schneider Electric plant die \u00dcbernahme von Shelly Anfang 2027. Gleichzeitig wurde der bekannte Z-Wave-Hersteller Zooz von Jasco \u00fcbernommen.&nbsp;Beide Hersteller haben zun\u00e4chst signalisiert, dass bestehende Strukturen beziehungsweise Teams weitgehend erhalten bleiben sollen. Auch die Zertifizierung \u201eWorks with Home Assistant\u201c kann bestehen bleiben, solange die entsprechenden Anforderungen weiterhin erf\u00fcllt werden.&nbsp;Trotzdem bleibt f\u00fcr mich eine wichtige Frage: Was passiert langfristig mit Produktunterst\u00fctzung, Firmwareupdates und offenen Schnittstellen?&nbsp;Gerade bei Smart-Home-Ger\u00e4ten, die teilweise viele Jahre im Einsatz sind, ist das ein entscheidender Punkt. Schlie\u00dflich m\u00f6chte niemand seine gesamte Installation umbauen m\u00fcssen, nur weil sich die Unternehmensstrategie eines Herstellers ver\u00e4ndert.<\/p>\n<h2>Wenn die Cloud abgeschaltet wird, wird es ungem\u00fctlich<\/h2>\n<p>Wie problematisch eine Herstellerabh\u00e4ngigkeit werden kann, zeigt das Beispiel des intelligenten Backofens June Oven.&nbsp;Nach der \u00dcbernahme durch Weber wurden die zugeh\u00f6rigen Cloud-Server abgeschaltet. Damit verloren die Ger\u00e4te unter anderem ihre Fernsteuerung, Kamera\u00fcbertragung und Softwareupdates. Der Backofen funktioniert zwar weiterhin als Backofen, aber zahlreiche urspr\u00fcnglich beworbene Smart-Funktionen sind verschwunden.&nbsp;Und genau das ist f\u00fcr mich einer der wichtigsten Gr\u00fcnde, bei Smart-Home-Komponenten m\u00f6glichst auf lokale Kommunikation und offene Standards zu setzen.&nbsp;Ein Ger\u00e4t sollte schlie\u00dflich nicht pl\u00f6tzlich einen Teil seiner Funktionen verlieren, nur weil der Hersteller keine Lust mehr auf den Betrieb seiner Server hat.<\/p>\n<h2>Mein Kurzfazit<\/h2>\n<p>Der Oktober-Newsletter der Open Home Foundation macht einmal mehr deutlich, dass ein wirklich smartes Zuhause nicht nur aus m\u00f6glichst vielen vernetzten Ger\u00e4ten besteht.&nbsp;Mindestens genauso wichtig sind Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit, Datenschutz, langfristige Nutzbarkeit und die Kontrolle \u00fcber die eigene Hardware.&nbsp;Besonders die Projekte zur Wiederverwendung alter Echo- und Google-Ger\u00e4te zeigen, welches Potenzial in der Open-Source-Community steckt.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr mich ist die Richtung jedenfalls klar: <strong>Lieber lokal, offen und selbstbestimmt als dauerhaft von irgendeiner Hersteller-Cloud abh\u00e4ngig!
